Burdened Dawn Episode 5

Episode 5: Secret Pathways

Henry set up a meeting with the man the poster called Vega. When he had called him he mentioned not having money, and told the man his story. Henry was sure he’d hang up or get mad, however he seemed sympathetic to his cause and agreed to help him. Despite the mans kindness he still felt nervous, after all, he’d never met a mercenary before.

Their meeting place didn’t make him feel any better. It was cold and creepy with several metallic structures that Henry didn’t understand. Pools of dirty water and long metallic pipes made the floor feel uncertain like he could trip any moment. When he had first got there he thought Vega would be waiting, instead over an hour later he was still alone. He was starting to think he’d been ditched when the sound of footsteps approaching finally appeared.

A massive pair of metal doors opened in the distance revealing a long corridor connected by glowing horizontal beams running up and down the walls like an obstacle course. The floor was a stream of even muckier water that seemed to follow the path indefinitely. Henry assumed this was how the suburbs made sewer ways, because the smell of this path reeked like a thousand dead bodies. Even from far away it was unbearable.

Out of the path a silhouette appeared, his face was covered by a breathing mask, his boots were huge and connected to his camouflage overalls. He waved his hands towards himself as if inviting Henry to go for a swim. Henry knew what he meant, it was time to go. No room for fear now, he had a date with a mercenary.

A Short Story Central Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone and happy holidays. As the years move forward, life here on earth seems to be getting more and more chaotic and divisive. 2019 was a crazy year to be alive, and I suspect 2020 to be just as wild. In this tangled climate of hate and confusion we’ve seen the impeachment of our president here in America, as well as the death of one of our greatest musical talents Juice Wrld. It seems everyday we get closer and closer to despising each other.

All around the world it seems pressure is rising from the politics in the UK to the forest fires in Brazil. Talk of AI advancement and global warming has us feeling like we’re in an apocalyptic war zone as of late. As Christmas time roles around I wanted to reflect on the positives of man kind the things we all enjoy. To set aside this feeling of exhaust and conflict and enjoy what makes us the same. Because, at the end of the day we are.

I’m going to to post several videos of things that I think represent the human spirit and the spirit of Christmas. I hope this is fuel for you guys as we trudge on into another difficult year. I wish to help all of us remember during all of the controversy and bickering we are all on the same team. Please enjoy A Short Story Central Christmas!

Thank you for reading and taking a look at the videos I picked out. I hope I was able to inspire you with a little more hope than this year has offered us. Even though it seems like the most divisive era of all time Its important to remember that people can also be kind. Enjoy your holidays, and remember that kindness like negativity spreads when given the proper fuel.

Kraken Episode 7

Episode 7: Sacrifice

Uma’s body froze in pure terror, the family that had taken them here, had found them. They could possibly face the same fate as the rest of their family in moments. She had no idea what to do, as the slow purposeful footsteps came closer and closer to the bed, Uma lost hope. Even if she tried to fight she’d lose, if she tried to run they’d smell her like they did under the bed. Her time had run out.

That’s when something terrible took place. Before I had the chance to stop him my grandpa popped out from underneath the bed. Revealing himself to whatever twisted monster was out there. The creatures hissed in anger at the site of a perfectly normal human.

“You smell me, I escaped punish me how you must.” My grandpa pleaded

Uma’s grandpa was sacrificing his freedom and possibly his life for hers. She couldn’t help but shed a tear. Her grandpa was so brave and utterly stupid. His disregard for his own safety was instinctual he hardly even thought about it. She had to make it worth while abd save her family.

“Take him to the dungeon with the rest” One hissed to another

Some rustling took place and then silence the family as well as her Grandpa was gone. Uma was totally alone with no plan, no help, and only about 10 years of good life experience. She felt utterly without hope like every opportunity had been squashed away before her eyes. Uma had nothing.

She knew she couldn’t give up, her family was captured and no matter the odds they needed her. Uma’s grandpa was down there, her aunts, her uncles, her mom and dad. No matter what the cost it was necessary they found an escape. That’s when an idea hit her like a lightning rod.

The Kraken the same beast that captured them in the first place. It had listened to her, and cared enough to take her away from imprisonment. It had sparred her and showed her kindness. She wasn’t alone if she went back for him she could use the creatures fondness to fix all of this.

Episode 4: Finding Help

That night, Henry went to the local pub in order to find help for his unfortunate situation. As the electric door swung open he was greeted by a less than friendly sight. The pub was dirty and smelled like a garbage can. Inside the most intense people Henry had ever seen stared at him with merciless hunger. Henry still couldn’t believe this was the suburbs.

https://www.artstation.com/artwork/L9v80

His whole life this place seemed like an attainable goal for somebody like him. However, all Henry had seen his entire trip was poverty near the level of the train tracks. He wondered if the city would even be better than this. Perhaps it was all a lie, put together by wishful thinkers. Henry pushed the thought aside forcing himself to focus on the threat at hand.

http://raymondchenart.blogspot.com/2014/05/environment-design-ferium.html

“I’m looking for passage into the city, does anybody have advice?” Henry asked plainly, the attention already fully focused on him.

The crowd in front of him hardly answered in glee. They stayed silent and returned to their conversations apparently deciding Henry was no longer a threat. Henry didn’t know whether to be offended or relieved to have all the focus so quickly shifted away from him. He looked around hoping to see anyone still willing to hear him out. He saw nothing not a person in the room still noticed his existence.

That’s when Henry locked his eyes on a board at the end of the room. On the board only a single piece of paper was pinned with a scary looking man and a sum of money at the bottom of the sheet. He was a mercenary for hire who went by the name of Vega. Perhaps, this was the man who could help him. He hardly had enough money to afford it, but the way he saw it he was running out of options.

The Magic Profiles: Episode 2

“Power is not good or bad, It simply is.”

-Unknown

“The Leviathan is a terrible and despicable creature, I would hardly want to run into something that scary on open waters.”

MAU Director

Episode 2: The Leviathan

This is a series about the most dangerous beings to ever graze our earth. The creatures that came from a power long forgotten. While some rely on technology, or Martial Prowess to defeat their enemies, a whole other class of combat exist right under our noses. Here we’ll explore that power and its many applications. This isΒ The Magic Profiles.

Today we’ll be talking about a sea monster of biblical proportions. A creature so massive that even the ships currently in our possession get dwarfed in comparison. This iconic beast is considered a threat even by the angels that once battled him, the Leviathan exist in a completely different league even in comparison to something like the Kraken. So, let’s take a deeper look into what makes this beast such a formidable magical being. What is it that separates him as the baddest beast in the sea?

https://www.pinterest.com/pin/367817494562501718/?lp=true

Let’s start with his gargantuan size and significant physical advantages. The Leviathan is about a hundred times bigger than a blue whale. Human beings don’t even get as big as a Leviathan tooth, to make a more understandable comparison. Its jaw size and strength alone is enough to take massive bites out of steel war ship with little in the way of resistance. Whenever it moves its tail in order to swim thousands of gallons of water get displaced in an instant. Its size is so legendary even sailing near him is incredibly dangerous. However, size isn’t all he has.

The Leviathans magic is surprisingly fire based despite his status as a sea monster. He is known to create boiling waters with a devastating fire breath in order to intimidate and even kill his opponents. His ability to discharge fire from his mouth can be used on anything from cities to ships and is often used in conjunction with his tail and body weight. It’s well known that being in front of the heat blast of this mighty creature puts even a dragon to shame. Due to its huge belly and mouth, his breath is often compared to the blast of a volcano or geyser. That being said, he is hardly just an offensive creature.

The Leviathans skin is capable of withstanding gun fire or even explosions. Its hundreds of times denser than steel and because of its massive surface area its considered practically unbreakable. No human weapon thrown at it has been capable of even making it bleed. Angel weapons will hurt it, but its hardly an easy target. During his battle with angel kind the Leviathan withstood several heavy blasts that arguably most creatures couldn’t. All in all, the Leviathan is a complete unstoppable shield from his head to his tail.

The Leviathan is an incredibly terrifying beast with little weakness’s. He is often considered more of a force of nature than a creature. His insane size, fiery breath, and unstoppable hunger do certainly seem similar to an end of days. It is wise to avoid this beast at all costs if one values their safety. The Leviathan is and remains one of histories strongest magical beings.

“Santa is quite the spell caster no doubt about it.”

Episode 1: Santa Clause

This is a series about the most dangerous beings to ever graze our earth. The creatures that came from a power long forgotten. While some rely on technology, or Martial Prowess to defeat their enemies, a whole other class of combat exist right under our noses. Here we’ll explore that power and its many applications. This is The Magic Profiles.

Our first episode will be an in depth look into our favorite jolly saint. While some might see Santa as some morbidly obese elderly man, I can assure you he is a fitting choice for this list. Santa is one of the most powerful forces known to man, underestimating him is a grave mistake.

https://www.deviantart.com/nebezial/art/EPIC-santa-wishes-you-a-FANTASTICAL-xmass-344505132
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QoY6J5-gNaA

Santa has been around magic his whole life. It’s clear to see in his anime backstory (video above). His familiarity with magic creatures helped him to form the incredible alliances he has today. Even as a boy, he knew the elves well and learned from their teachings. Over the years as he achieved incredible renown and eventually immortality, his magic grew to be even more natural than his physical body. By the time he had been spell casting for 170 years Santa had a grasp over every known spell on the planet. Even the elves that taught him recognize that he has long surpassed them in skill.

Santa’s most impressive spells include Ice and snow manipulation, the ability to bestow flight to a grounded creature, and most impressive of all the divination skills to see every child’s entire year at once. Even among spell casters these feats are beyond incredible. Santa’s experience and skill with magic is unlike anyone since Merlin himself.

Santa has many insane feats even past his spell book. He’s fast enough to travel the world in a single night. He casually carries a bag containing every child’s gift on the entire planet with little struggle. He can fit into a tiny chimney even with his massive size. Without magic Santa is still insanely capable. He’s fast, strong, and flexible, despite his appearance he puts even our best athletes to shame.

This has been an in depth look at one of the most powerful spell casters of our time. I hope I was able to show you that this is no man to be underestimated. I invite you not to mistake his kindness for weakness. Next time you hear HO HO HO remember that Santa is no weakling. He uses his powers to help others but make no mistake, he was and remains one of earths most powerful Magical beings.

Episode 5: An Unbound Curse

As Uma sat and pondered her riddle, she realized in frustration she was only cluttering her mind. Instead, she crossed her legs and began deep breathing. She stopped thinking entirely clearing her mind of any bias or judgement. She brought herself to a state of peace. Her environment became brighter and more beautiful. Changing to her state of mind.

“What are you doing?” the troll grumbled nastily.

Uma did not answer, she simply allowed the answer to peacefully make its way into her mind. When it had she calmly stood and walked to the bridge. She came face to face with the disgusting troll.

“Well?” she answered swiftly with confidence “Breath”

The troll smiled he grew a taller and his features became more human. He looked at his hands in shock. He began to arise into the air, moving into the heavens just before leaving the spirit world he let out a cry.

“Thank You! My families curse has been broken.”

Uma was really confused, but she was happy for the troll and happy she could now cross her bridge. Pretty soon she’d be at her destination and have spirit friends to play with. Uma was on her way to everything shes ever wanted! She called her coyote forward and began to cross the bridge ready for her next challenge.

“Never give up on your dreams”

Unknown

Episode 5: My Heavenly Limitations

When I was a kid, I wanted more than anything to be an astronaut. I fantasized day and night about being among the stars in the gorgeous tapestry of space. My parents never liked the idea and told me to “have a solid back up plan”. Over the years the pestering wore me down. By the time I was in high school I had given up on my dreams.

I ended up inheriting my parents farm, It was a responsible financial choice. It was the right thing to do, it would make my parents proud. After that I married the girl my friends thought was hottest and got the car they thought was the coolest. I wore what my neighbors wore so I fit in and had kids because its what you do.

Now I’m forty sitting on the hill of whats now “my farm” looking at the stars above me. I finally have the wisdom to see that my need for safety destroyed my life. My need to fit in cost me every decision I ever made. My fear of failure cost me a future in the stars. The ironic thing is my parents have passed, and the friends I wanted to impress has faded from my life. The only thing i’m left with is a family that I didn’t really choose and a life I didn’t choose.

Now you’ve heard my tale so hear my plea. Follow your dreams no matter the cost. The only one you should be impressing is yourself. People fade but the person you become, the things you do, the legacy you leave it will last forever. Don’t be like me, follow your dreams.

KSI VS Logan Paul 2

My Thoughts On This Weekends Historic Boxing Clash In LA, and It’s Effects on the Sport

By: Levi Wyatt

Spoiler Warning for KSI VS Logan Paul 2 (DUH)

This weekend, one of the biggest boxing events of all time finally took place. Logan Paul, the controversial mega star finally got his rematch with his British arch rival KSI. In their first battle last year the event ended in a perfect draw. Now, they’d be robbed of their head guard’s and both of them wanted blood. This match from the beginning took the world by storm. It happened so explosively that I think many of us are left asking “Now what?” Id like to look back and consider how this massive fight effected the sport I love so dearly. I understand how different this is from my usual material, but personally I have a ton to say about it. So without further a due, lets get into Logan Vs KSI 2.

In the lead up to this fight, I thought Logan had a major mental edge. The media build up to this event gave me flash backs to Mayweather vs Mcgreggor. Logan spent little time convincing us of his skill, and spent a lot of his energy cutting at KSI. This isn’t a new strategy by any means. Yet, Logan escalated it much farther than fight fans were ever used to. He predicted a first round decapitation, sported an atrocious mustache, and came at KSI for his lack of math skills. Unlike Floyd, you could see many moments were Logan broke KSI’s cool with his jokes and showboating. All around it seemed Logan had mentally gotten into KSI’s defenses. That mixed with his imposing size led to a massive favoring of Logan leading into the fight. During this time KSI was more focused on showcasing his killer team and intense training, something Logan should have taken seriously. As the fight approached closer, tempers only got hotter, and as the fight came to a start the tension had become indescribable.

During the first two rounds, it was a very different story. Logan at times had his guard as low as his hips. He hugged in a repeated and unprofessional way. He tried fighting conservatively, but without the defensive skills to back it up, he seemed overwhelmed. KSI on the other hand came ready to fight. In the first half KSI landed several incredible punches. All in all, the fight was much different than the mind games. Logan’s groundbreaking confidence had left him. As they swung into the third, it seemed to be over for Logan. With KSI landing a beautiful hook overhand combination and knocking him down to his knees. Yet, Logan looked far from ready to give up the fight.

In the second half Logan seemed to be gaining a little more control. He started the fourth bringing the fight back to an even exchange. To many it seemed he was ready to turn this fight around. That’s when everything changed, Logan grabbed KSI and held him in place with his arm, then punched him to the ground. After that, he struck him while he was still on the mat. The ref immediately withdrew two points for the foul. Also deciding he would save him from the cancellation of his knockdown. For the rest of the fight KSI went back to controlling the match landing several powerful shots, while Logan was never able to recover from his lost points.

When all the dust had settled, the judges called it a split decision. KSI was given the victory and it was finally over. The Nightmare KSI remained the champion and Logan was in shock. Logan and his couch think the call was a bad one. They think they are the rightful winners. I personally disagree, Logan Cheated, His only knockdown realistically shouldn’t of counted and he definitely hit a man while downed. In my opinion he lost not by a split but to a significantly better boxer. He wasn’t ever in control of the fight and the judges were right to award KSI the belt.

So what will this event do for boxing? Frankly, a lot actually, Logan and KSI brought excitement back to this sport. It brought eyes and ears away from everything for one night to show the world the incredible entertainment of boxing. No matter the mistakes they made or the lessons they were faced with, they were both fearless and deserve the utmost respect. Personally, I think they both need a lot more work, but that’s whats so amazing about boxing to begin with there’s so much to learn, you could spend a life on it. Logan has time to work on his guard and his wrestling issues or the time to do something else entirely. What matters is that they worked there hardest and were brave enough to take the leap.

Thank you for reading guys! Sorry for the oddball post. Our next post should be on Thursday at our usual time. I hope to see each and everyone of you again, enjoy the rest of your day, thanks again for reading! Goodbye!Β

Episode 6: Twisted Family

As Maddie and her Grandfather cautiously entered the throne room, the thought of their family, still alive and well, was their only source of bravery. The dark, disturbing, marble walls had a way of sucking the torchlight from the room. Pockets of light were speckled through the room and the hallway beyond it. However, everywhere else was as dark as obsidian. It would be easy to stealthily move about in order to find her family.

They moved quickly, but silently. With every torch they would duck and weave around in order to remain hidden. After moving past the Kraken throne, Maddie saw nothing but rooms of equal beauty. More requisite black marble walls and tall ceilings were everywhere you looked. When Maddie and Grandpa stopped in a bedroom it was slick and well designed, and had many paintings that looked highly valuable.

Whoever lived here had been stealing valuable goods for years using his beast. Maddie couldn’t imagine how many people they had hurt. Grandpas looked sharp and brooding. Like something was worrying him. His brow had an extra four wrinkles layered in.

“Whats wrong Grandpa?” Maddie cautiously asked

“This bedroom looks lived in be careful.” he muttered

As he said it, like a curse, the family started walking down the hallway. talking to each other in smooth warm voices like caramel millionaires. The pair ducked under the bed as they walked by there was five of them a woman, a man, and two kids. They were talking about a new shipment from ‘Beasty’. That must have been its name.

Then in a horrifying instant the family stops walking all together. Maddie’s heart starts beating like a drum. Silence for many seconds each stretching for hours in her panicked mind. She prayed in desperation they were well hidden enough. However, praying wouldn’t be enough. In that moment the room went cold and Murphy took control. In unison, the entire family spoke in a villainous hiss.

“I smell humans” Maddie’s heart stopped, they had been found.

Episode 3: The Border Guard

As Henry approached the cities border his shoulders became even stiffer than before. His heart thumped so loud he could now hear it as clear as a gong. Fear and worry filled him like an over blown balloon. The excessive security measures disheartened him even more than the impoverished suburbs.

Everything there was elite, only the best of the best for the city guard of course. The wall surrounding the city was at least 30 feet tall with turrets every ten yards. The security guards were dangerous androids with tormenting glowing eyes. Each was suppose to be more dangerous than a hundred people. The gate was many layers thick with a scanner sitting directly above ready to look through all deception.

Henry’s analysis was simple, it would be impossible to get into the city alone. He’d need to assemble a group of people capable of a highly complex break in. He certainly had little money to hire any professionals. He definitely had no favors out here in the suburbs. He’d need to find exceptional people desperate to get out themselves, and he knew just where to look.

Henry turned to head towards the suburbs, in order to get more help. For one bone chilling second Henry’s eyes met with the androids. Their piercing blue scanners taking him apart pathologically gave Henry chills. They looked so human yet so soulless it made him regret his new goal.

Henry would have to find help and sneak past them by tonight if he wanted to get to a ship. The more he moved the more conflict seemed to pile up in front of him. Even though he felt hopeless he knew what was important. His sister wouldn’t have forever, he had to keep going. Everything Depended on it…

A Night Of Horrors

To the average citizen Halloween is a fun night filled with candy and celebration. Most people can go the whole holiday entirely blind to anything less than a splendid night. However, today I’m gonna tell you the secret that has been covering your eyes your entire life.

Every day a veil works hard to protect you from a world not unlike our own. Behind this veil are spirits of every shape and size. Some are purely good others deeply evil. Most people go their whole life unaware of this parallel universe right under their nose. Us demon hunters have no such luxury. Most of us are very aware of the presents of this spirit plain even on an average day.

Every Halloween the veil reaches the thinnest point of the entire year. Demons, ghosts, spirits, ghouls, all walk the streets unhindered by our separate reality. Even some normal people are able to see them on occasion. That’s right, us demon hunters see Halloween as a rather scary and nasty event filled with panic and often, danger.

Why would I tell you such a nasty thing? That’s simple, this Halloween will be a thinner break than any year in human history. In fact, for all intensive purposes we will have no veil at all this year. Spirits will be able to wander almost entirely free of limitation. It’s entirely possible that many of you will meet some ghastly creatures this year. While we’d love too, us demon hunters will be unable to save all of you.

We figured we owed you this warning. Considering you are all likely to be murdered if acting unaware. Now you’ve been warned, so if you wander into a scary basement of a haunted mansion, or an abandoned graveyard I wont feel too bad for you.

This Halloween will be spookier, scarier, and more dangerous than ever before. Every ghost and monster will be ready to attack at every corner. So watch your back, gather your courage, always be ready to run, and have fun. After all embracing our fear and the dangers around us is what Halloween is all about.

Sincerly,

Rex Martin- Professional Demon Hunter

So, let’s take a deeper look into what makes this beast such a formidable magical being. What is it that separates him as the baddest beast in the sea?

A Case For Reading

10 Reasons Why I Think Reading Remains to this Day, the Greatest Form of Entertainment.

https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2015/11/18/456551402/adam-johnson-ta-nehisi-coates-win-national-book-awards

Disclaimer:

The Views Expressed In This Article Are My Personal Opinion They Are Not Fact And Should Be Taken With A Grain Of Salt.

This post may be a little different than you guys are used to. However, it is something I’ve always longed to write about. I often think about why I pursue language in the midst of things like blockbuster movies and hit television shows. I mean, trying to compete against high tech productions with hundreds of people armed only with a pen and pad is surely a fool’s task right? It’s akin to running into Area 51 with only a bow and arrow, arguably a very unwinnable battle. So if there are so many disadvantages why do I do it? Despite the advantages, other mediums have over writing, in my opinion,  it remains to this day the greatest form of entertainment. Here are my ten reason why.

1.) Books Have Unlimited Battery

Have you ever been at the park, or the mall, when that dreaded moment changes everything. Your phones screen goes black, and all connection to music, videos, and social media is beyond your grasp. We both know that you aren’t going to socialize at this point poor planning has ruined your outing. Sure you can buy a portable charger but nobodies perfect, it could easily be forgotten. That’s where carrying a book becomes a life saver. In the dessert, on an island, even in Antarctica a book guarantees you eight hours worth of entertainment. No WiFi is needed, no charging port, nothing but the book fully in tact. If it’s a good enough book to reread, its worth double the time. Books remain the most reliable form of entertainment with hours of unassisted enjoyment in every chapter no strings attached.

2.) Reading Expands Your Perspective

Every time you read, you take on the perspective of not only the writer, but the character you’re reading. Often when you finish a book or story you can see through a completely different lens. You can understand the thoughts of a twelve year old child, or a forty year old business mogul. In a movie or show the short time and low access to inner dialogue makes the same feat one in a million. It is indisputable that books have a special ability to expand the way you view the world. They transform you into a multi dimensional thinker, instead of a person trapped in a single way of being raised and thinking.

3.) Reading Makes You Smarter

Reading will make you a smarter person. It will increase your vocabulary, and allow you to speak in a more well worded manner. It will enhance your ability to think quickly and solve problems. It will allow you to think in a more three dimensional way. When you watch Netflix (Depending on the show) at best the effect is a neutral one, if not blatantly making less mentally capable. When you read however, you constantly get smarter and smarter while still being entertained.

4.) You Can Improve Reading With Technology

If you’re willing to forgo the benefits of point one, there’s been a huge expanse of reading material on the internet over the last 20 years. While finding a well written book was a challenge, once upon a time, its easier now then its ever been. Services like audible and You tube have audio books at the ready. Writer post free content everyday on social media like Instagram and Twitter. All in all there has never been a better time to start reading with hundreds of amazing stories always at your finger tips

5.) Reading is Magical

When you read an amazing thing happens. You stop noticing the words on the page and see through the characters eyes. Your imagination takes a grip of you and it takes you to an amazing place often filled with beautiful lessons. Its a deeply personal and magical experience that is hard to match any other way. The amount of passion and adventure you can find is unlimited so find your genre and sit down by the fire place, I promise its worth your time.

Thank you for reading guys! Our next post will be a little more normal. It should be on Thursday at our usual time. I hope to see each and everyone of you again, enjoy the rest of your day, thanks again for reading! Goodbye πŸ˜€

Episode 2: The Hustle

Henry laid in bed as silent, and still as a possum. The sound of his mothers radio in the office next door kept him paralyzed. His sister was already curled up with blankets snoring like a sailor. She had not shed a single tear the entire night. She was braver than anyone Henry had ever met. He was sure, now more than ever, this is what he had to do. His sister didn’t deserve a life of blindness he couldn’t sit around and wait any longer. The second the radio clicked off and Henry’s mother slipped into bed, he made his move. He got dressed quietly, taking his time with each and every movement. Quickly, he packed a backpack full of supplies. Soon as Henry knew for sure his mother was dozed off, he slipped out the window and started walking west.

It took about an hour to escape the train tracks. hundreds of unfortunate souls had houses going for as far as Henry could see. Once he finally escaped he realized it didn’t get much better past the tracks. Despite his notion that the suburbs were as lively as the wealthy city, the streets seemed war torn and savage. The buildings were shredded and gave the eerie feeling they may collapse. The suburb was just as bad as the harshest parts of the tracks. Henry had been lied to his whole life.

Henry was able to easily keep walking past the dilapidated city with little issue. It was abandoned for the most part. The city streets were mainly populated by rats and similar rodents. Not a single person could be viewed even with perfect vision.

Henry felt like he’d go into shock, his legs were made of lead, his veins were filled with bleach. Henry had dreamed of making it out his whole life. Buying a house in the suburbs and living better than his parents did. The truth was as heavy as an avalanche weighing down his chest stealing the breath from his lungs. There was no middle class, the entirety of their society was in ruins to maintain a lavish lifestyle another hour down the road. Meanwhile him and his sister were destined to suffer. It was all in the plan.

Henry was beginning to doubt his plan, it would be a challenging journey. The city was dangerous, how long would he be able to stay there. Would making credits even be possible? No, Henry had to adapt, he could board a ship and fly somewhere with more to offer. Like his dad had tried to do many years ago. Whatever happened Henry would be forced to find a way out and to help his family, the clock was ticking and nothing was gonna bring him down.

Episode 4: A Letter to a Lover

Dear Darla,

Thank you for getting back to me so swiftly I often discover myself waiting for your next letter. Is that strange for me to admit? I love language so dearly, and I feel you have a way with verbiage, unlike anyone I’ve ever met. Well perhaps excluding myself. We’re so alike you and I, I often wonder if you would’ve made the better author.

I’m sorry that I’ve been away so long, my career demands that I stay a whole month longer in the mountains. Research isn’t even half completed yet, I fear it may be even longer. Just know that I’m always thinking about you. There is not a single moment that passes you don’t hold my heart.

Strangely, I often think, that a sizable part of me is missing. Now that I write it down I suspect its only the feeling of losing you. I hope to see you soon and tend to the farm with you. Maybe, we could look up at the night sky like we used to when we were young. Just for old times sake.

Please let me know how the family is doing. I put a thousand dollars in my letter I hope it helps. I’d tell you to stay sharp but I know you already are. There’s nobody I’d rather have holding down the fort. I await the day I see you soon.

Your Loving Husband,

Diary 151

Episode 5: Kraken Castle

Maddie’s legs were made of led, each limb was like a hundred pounds of weight yanking her to the dirt at her feet. Ever since the Kraken left, she felt like a reality star but with concrete injections instead of Botox. After the encounter with the Kraken, where Maddie somehow had tamed the terrifying creature into letting her live. She was having trouble focusing, the memory followed her like an addiction pulling her in against her will towards the thought. How did I do that?

Even though her Grandpa was also probably terrified he was looking for an escape. He had prepared her a fire and a little food as well. She was grateful to have an adult protecting her. She had no idea what she was doing. She had stupidly fell for an easy trap and gotten herself paralyzed. The only reason she survived this long is because she had gotten lucky. She only called for the monster to stop in desperation. She had no idea it would work, in fact she was fairly sure it wouldn’t.

“Maddie take a look at this!” Her grandfather called in excitement from the distance.

Far behind the pile of ships, off to the corner of the cave, a human sized wooden door was somehow on the wall. The odd door was somehow fully opened. It was leading into a beautiful room with a throne covered in candles and beautiful statues everywhere you turned. The biggest statue sat above the throne and depicted the very beast haunting her memories. An incredible kraken carved from stone almost as big as the real thing.

“Dont tell me something owns this thing.” Maddie wispered in horror looking into the throne room with pinpoint focus.

“Looks like it i’m afraid, I think this cavern is for the Kraken to come in and out. Allows it to be pet like but still bring them fresh prisoners.” He muttered this in pure disbelief but the evidence was there.

A throne for a king fond of Krakens with his own personal doorway to his Kraken cave was too much to think about. This must of been some kind of mental breakdown, Maddie had to be going mad on her boat right now. Her instincts told her otherwise.

She knew he was right. The Kraken is here to bring in prisoners. It must of grown too fond of Uma to turn her in. Her grandfather probably got beat up because he offended it. That means, their family and friends must have been turned in. Whatever candle obsessed Kraken worshiping king had her family she had to stop them.

Episode 1: Henry Levesque

Henry Levesque, while legendary, was not a man born into his privilege. He was born on the peculiar planet Ra kai. It was a wildly dangerous place to live at the time. The super wealthy, self proclaimed, C.E.O of the Galaxy Rorlack Lexington had destroyed the middle class and created a state of wealth imbalance unlike anything earth has ever seen. In the city the rich live like goddess’s eating gourmet food and sleeping in incredible estates. While the normal people like Henry had to struggle just to eat. If that wasn’t bad enough, he had a little sister to feed too. Ana bell was only ten, meaning all she could do was hide in their tiny closet sized apartment. You wouldn’t have recognized that Henry, the young twenty year old willing to do anything to survive.

Henry lived on Mcbuba Avenue, in the deepest part of the projects. Here on the streets its known as the train tracks. They call it that because the avenue isn’t an actual road. Its a bunch of tiny storage unit sized houses along an abandoned train track. It’s the type of place where everyone knows everybody, where family is more than just blood, and where everyone knows how to defend themselves.

Mcbuba Ave.

Our story begins in the coldest part of the year. This time of year many people worry if they may die of cold or starvation. The crops die out and the animals hibernate. Food becomes scarce and that always means casualties. That’s why when Henry walked in the house with a big smile on his face Anabel was almost scared. That is, until he dropped a big bag of mushrooms onto the table. She immediately understood and got a similar smile on her face.

“I found a mushroom cave,” Henry exclaimed with glee.

“Thank you, this is wonderful brother we’ll be fed for days.” she wrapped him in a big embrace.

Henry sat down with his family for dinner. His mother was thanking him graciously for his work foraging in the woods. It was so kind, that Henry was actively insisting he was only doing his share out of pure embarrassment. His sister Anabel was so busy stuffing mushrooms in her mouth she was unable to say anything at all. Despite their rough environment, tonight was a good night.

“Darling we need to tell you something, but you have to promise to not do anything…crazy.” She said it with the caution of a grieving mother.

The news hit him like a bullet train, he felt violently ill his sister would go blind within the year. Progressive sight loss, the only way to stop it would be a 3000 credit surgery. Henry had not seen that type of money in his entire life. His sister would be doomed to a life of darkness if he couldn’t make real money quickly.

Millennium City

Despite his oath to his mother that he would simply go to bed, he needed to do something. There was no money here in the train tracks the only way to save her would be to sneak into the city to find work. It will be dangerous, and illegal but he has no choice. As he finished his diner he made a silent but potent oath, only to his god and himself. Yet, it would stick with him the rest of his life. That day he swore to rise above for his family and for himself.

“Take the advice or don’t after all, I am just a tree.”

-The Wise Willow

“Take a lesson from the tree down the road little creature. The only way to be happy is to be content with what you have.”

-The Wise Willow

Despite my youthful appearance, I’ve lived on this road for some time. Much longer than any of the humans who come and go from their homes like clockwork. Far longer than the birds and squirrels who make their homes among my branches. Certainly longer than ants that run along the grassy hills. Trees aren’t like animals, always moving around hungry and afraid. You seek greater and greater things with no limit. This is because a beast is forever famished. Never content with what it has.
Take a lesson from the tree down the road little creature. The only way to be happy is to be content with what you have. No prey will satisfy your hunger. Even an infinite bounty would not please your empty stomachs. The sole way to truly find peace is to be like a tree.
How often do you see a hedge request anything? Even if a daisy could talk I doubt it would have a single desire. This is because a plant is never moving. A plant’s job is to be still. It collects the bounty the universe provides. It doesn’t ask it for things only sit there and waits.
Of course, because of biology, this is impossible to fully accomplish. However, I hope that there is a lesson in the way we live. After all, I’m older than I look. I’ve seen leaders fall and rise and I’d like to think I know a thing or two. Trust in the universe, I believe you’ll be surprised. The bounties you miss running about are endless. When you let go of control amazing things can happen.
This is not to say to not have any ambitions, animals need their goals. After all, you’ve accomplished many things with willpower. Things a tree-like me can’t scoff at. Perhaps, all I’m trying to say is be content with where you’re at. I see so many humans who desire and desire until it destroys them. Ambition becomes jealousy so easily. The power of gratitude and trust is incredible. Take the advice or don’t after all, I am just a tree.

“If you have a problem with that, I could always eat you”

– MONSTROUS TROLL

“What makes this YOUR bridge?”

UMA

Back at the village, Uma had packed a large hide bag full of supplies. In it, she had every essential item she may need. She had medical kits, rations, rope, even a bedroll. Uma was well prepared and always armed with her trusty wand. She felt like no challenge could stop her, not even a dragon, or an ogre.

Uma started her journey at the crest of the hill hours ago. Now she was well over ten miles from the village. Her mission led her to an astonishingly handy cobble trail that weaved smoothly into the mountains. For almost a day, nothing disturbed her. Uma was able to keep a brilliant pace. If anything, her pet coyote hunting for food had antagonized any creatures living here.

As Uma walked further, under cover of the setting sun, she approached a roaring river. The only way to cross was a sturdy stone bridge. As Uma approached the bridge, a disgusting monstrosity crawled from underneath it.

It had green fur covered in long tendrils of spider webs. It was towering and thin, at least seven feet in height. Its mouth, filled with fangs, had been fixed in a sinister grin.

“Hello little one, would you like to cross my bridge?” He sneered with a toxic breath

“What makes this YOUR bridge?” She asked indignantly, holding her hand to her wand.

The creature looked at her, deeply shaken. His toothy grin became a haughty leer.

“How dare you, girl! I am a troll, my father and my father’s father guarded this bridge.” he roared in a vindictive raving. His teeth were inches from her face now as sharp as razor blades.

“I’m sorry if I offended you, I had no idea of your families esteem.” She said sheepishly, admittedly regretting her initial reaction.

“If you wish to cross the bridge, you must answer a riddle, it is tradition,” He said much calmer now.

“If you have a problem with that, I could always eat you,” The troll threatened callously.

“No, no, there’s no problem I’ll answer your riddle.” She insisted.

Uma thought this troll was an emotional mess. He was bouncing between rage and sensitivity. She didn’t know whether to attack him or apologize.

“I’m as light a feather, yet no man can hold me for long, what am I?” The creature hissed.

Uma thought about her riddle meticulously. It could be something painful or unsafe. If it’s as light as a feather, there’s another reason it can’t be held. Uma thought maybe it could be something cold, hot, or possibly even poisonous.

Uma was sitting there frustrated, pondering the many possible answers. If she was in-correct, her quest would be ended. Without a way to cross the river, Uma would be forced to return all the way home. Uma needed to think, and she had no time to do it.

4 Tips for New Adventurers

Dear new adventurers,
My alias is Nathaniel Berknalawitz I’m an experienced adventurer, of over 30 years of practice. I have noticed a troubling inclination in juvenile men and women dying gruesome deaths. Often, these deaths are undoubtedly avoidable and incredibly senseless. I have decided to maintain the carnage with the most distinguished bits of my knowledge. To achieve this, I’ve prepared these four tips on how to adventure and live to recount the tale.

1.) Be Prepared
Always bring the proper supplies before adventuring. The value of being fully prepared is immeasurable. The most notable thing in your pack is a rope. It has several uses including but not confined to formations, climbing, and tying foes. Another incredibly versatile tool is the knife. Fit for self-defense and all sorts of various duties. Food, water, and currency are also necessary before leaving home. If you’re going anywhere cold always bring a coat and a fire starter. In general, its good to prepare for any possible outcome. It’s better than being caught off guard.

http://lomets.com/pin/leather-adventure-bag/

2.) Watch Your Back
It’s always important to watch your back for any possible attack. It’s essential to be alert to a mixture of opponents. Do not hinder your hearing or scent. All of your senses are vitally significant while adventuring. Whenever you turn a corner, make sure to turn wide. Always keep your wits as sharp as your dagger. Pay attention at all times because watching around you could save your life

http://www.themultisensoryartproject.co.uk/

3.) A.S.A(Always Stay Armed)
No matter where you go, enemies exist. Agents of evil from the shadows of society that wish to harm you. That’s why it’s critical to carry a weapon during travel. Self-defense is a necessary part of being an adventurer. Protection is a fundamental device during a safe journey. Being profoundly skilled with your weapon also never hurts. It’s sad but true with dragons in the sky and giants in the hills an armament is indispensable.

http://kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=ah4214n

4.) Navigation is Key
It’s important to continually know where you’re going while traveling. Getting lost almost perpetually ends in self-destruction. Always remember the sun rises in the west and sets in the east. Maps are an essential tool. Knowing how to read them is an even more essential skill. The use of proper navigation can save you and your parties life. I would suggest any aspiring adventurer learn how to use the map and compass. Otherwise you rest your fate in chance alone.

https://www.dreamstime.com/stock-photo-old-paper-world-map-image12037590

If you follow these four tips your chances of surviving an adventure will be greatly increased. At the end of the day the best way to survive is bravery and adaptability. Use your head and always follow your heart and the universe will guide you on your journey. Make sure to remember what you’re fighting for. Otherwise, All these tips are just in vein. good luck on your travels fellow adventurers. I hope to see you soon.

Godspeed,

Nathaniel Berknalawitz

Kraken Episode 4

A Kraken is a terrifying beast. Ten times the size of a fishing ship, with ten tentacles winding around its slimy body. It was a horror to witness. Every nerve in her body felt numb and dead. Her fear was like lava flowing through her body. She was a sitting duck. Unable to move or think. Above her, was a massive unstoppable creature. Worse of all it was hungry.
With one of its massive coils, it lifted Maddie. Its strength was so great it was much like lifting a feather for the beast.
“Please…” She croaked desperately
It stopped for a second looking at her with confusion. Perhaps, the Kraken had thought she was some kind of fish or seal.
Can this massive creature understand English? Its eyes widen as if curious about her. Could it be discovering I am different? She knew that she had to keep talking.
“I can help you if you just don’t hurt me,” She cried desperately. It continued to look at her, intrigued by the sounds Maddie was creating.
It had never heard a language before. Its big black eyes seemed to be as deep as the abyss. The Kraken also seemed to give recognition in his eyes. Maddie remembered reading how intelligent octopi are. They can open cages and understand words. Octopi this enormous would have an even greater understanding.
“Please let me down” She demanded in a harsh tone.
To Maddie’s surprise, the creature humored her. The Kraken put her down in the soft dirt. Maddie’s body was still paralyzed, but she could now talk with relative ease.
A chilling thought occurred to her this thing had created the paralysis poison. It wasn’t anything that could be considered natural. This creature was highly intelligent. The Kraken stared at Maddie and her grandfather. I’m sure he was Considering if he planned to go through with mercy. After deciding these children probably wouldn’t taste good anyway he sunk beneath the surface again.
Maddie sat there for many minutes hoping it would not return. To her surprise, the paralysis wore down before it did.
“It never wanted humans it must be confused.” A gruff older voice remarked
Maddie cheered and limped over to the sound. Her grandfather was finally awake! With the poison wore off she was able to speak to him at last.
“You have a lot of explaining to do” She scolded.
Her Grandfather laughed at the remark and agreed.
“We certainly aren’t in Kansas anymore” He joked. He was finally taking a look around the cave in awe.
“Alright, I’m sure you have a ton of questions…” He said.
“That’s a huge understatement.” She shot back finally with the feeling of safety and the lingering thought of the returning creature on her mind. This was only beginning.

Write the Picture Episode 2

Every morning, without fail, Samuel watched the sunrise above his old garage. For hours he’d sit, watching the fiery pinks and reds become crisp and blue. Samuel would imagine the new days approaching. He’d reflect the time that had past. After hours of thought, he’d grab his cane and limp his way back to saint Josephs nursing home.
Every single morning, he’d make it only a few feet. The nurses would frantically discover Samuel and put him in an ambulance. They would scold him and lock him in his room. Samuel hated it here. It felt like a prison.
The low ceilings made the building feel suffocating. The chairs were unpleasing and hurt Samuel’s back. Worse of all, the nurses were rude and careless. Samuel planned to escape for real one day.
He thought about life on the road the freedom he so much desired. To him, that seemed natural to dream about in the presence of the sun. After all, the sun rises and sets every morning and night. So why can’t it offer a new beginning?

Samuel snuck out like he always did. The hospital rushed to his old house, to the garage he loved so dearly. They couldn’t find anything, Samuel was nowhere to be found. He had gone the opposite way. He walked all the way to the Hallipart airway. He got in his old plane and flew into the sky.
After that, a national search took place, for years nobody could find Samuel the elusive escaped elderly man. Until one day his body was found peacefully laying in a meadow. It was all the way in Canada if you can believe it. He was looking where the sun rose thinking about the future.

Spirit Visa Episode 3

The Queen glanced at Uma in pity. Realizing what she had done, she apologized eloquently. The Queen requested a special drink to help with the effects. Her servants obliged immediately. Giving Uma a chocolate flavor drink the color of blood.

Instantaneously, the effects subsided the feeling of charms and spells gripping her ming passed.

“What was that?” Uma complained, grabbing her temples in frustration.

“My voice sometimes has that effect, part of being a mermaid I’m afraid” She explained sheepishly.

Despite understanding her predicament, she still felt violated. An odd silence hung in the air for several seconds.

Uma collected herself, shell shocked, and afraid, she collected her thoughts.

“I live in the middle of nowhere, its become very depressing” She admitted bluntly.

“A fair complaint,” The Queen conceded.

“I traveled for many days and defeated fierce enemies to find a new home. Hopefully, among friends and a community to call my own. Is there any way I could move into your city, your majesty.” She pleaded helplessly lowing herself to one knee.

The Queen seemed to ponder this for ages. Possibly she was considering many things at the same time. Maybe she wished to control her runaway charm speech. Whatever the case it was maddening.

“I wish I could just let you, but sadly it won’t be possible.” She said heavily.

“Why not?” Uma Protested

The Queen giggled at her outrage, which only fueled the fire.

“Why are you acting rude?” She cried indignantly.

“Ugh, very well-child there is a way…” The Queen said.

She pulled out a quest written on a piece of paper. Exasperated, and frustrated, she took the sheet and reluctantly thanked the Queen before politely leaving the waters.

The sheet said,  Quest For Citizenship and listed details on a journey to retrieve various items for the city in a faraway temple.

Uma walked back down the hill and left the town. She looked ahead over the peak of the mountains in the distance. She had come this far already and had her trusty wand with her. As annoying as it was Uma had little option, she’d be forced to do what she has to find friendship. Whether she liked it or not, she had loads to do. Her coyote rubbed against her leg to remind her that she was not alone. Uma Smiled. She felt confident and ready community life was around the corner.

Kraken Episode 3

The water was as cold as an ice bath. Every bone on Maddie’s body felt numb as she dipped into the salty green-lit pool. Terror burdened her. Anything could be lurking in these waters. Even the terrifying monstrosity that put them here.
Whatever it was, it was capable of turning apart her ship like a plaything. It would have little trouble ending Maddie’s life in an instant.
Maddie began to swim as silently as possible but at an incredible pace. She moved her arms and legs in long flowing motions. Maddie hoped to get power without splashing about and alerting nearby beasties.
The boat seemed much further away now then on land. The thick salty water made swimming a tiring effort. Within minutes her pace began to slow.
Maddie began treading water, hoping to conserve her energy. In front of Maddie, in the distance, she saw her grandfather’s ship. She studied with incredible resolution. Maddie Investigated every edge of the boat. Desperately, she pleaded to God to let her see her family.
Her prayer was answered, among the wreckage, she spotted her grandfather. There he was, covered in rubble and debris. Who knew if he was ok, or even alive. All Maddie knew is she was motivated, she swam with the tenacity of a great white shark.
The sight of her grandfather had Maddies heart beating like an assault rifle. She wanted to save him, help him with his injuries. She’d no longer be a child on her own, making terrifying decisions. They’d be ok together, Maddie was sure of it.
At the edge of the beach, she took a moment to rest. Maddie’s arms felt numb and limp from the cold like loose spaghetti. Her breathing was inconsistent. When Maddie tried to stand up, she immediately collapsed to the ground. Maddie knew this couldn’t just be exhaustion. Something was wrong very, deeply wrong.
Her breathing became panicked her tired sitting turned into full out paralysis. Eventually, she collapsed to the sand, unable to move a muscle. Maddie realized, too late that the pool of water wasn’t filled with salt at all. It was poison meant to paralyze prey.
Slowly, massive tentacles began to lift from the surface of the basin. Maddie was horrified as she finally saw her assailant. Its incredible size sent chills up her spine. Her ship’s unadulterated destruction made total sense. This thing was unstoppable and worst of all she couldn’t move an inch.

The Swordsmen and the Frauds

Written By: Levi Wyatt & Kamal Roohani

Long ago, in a small Indian village, there lived two swordsmen. Both of them possessed incredible prowess with a blade, but the similarities ended there. The first was named El, and he was towering and powerful. The next was called Da, and he was swift and dynamic. Never had their blades touched in combat, but you would hardly know it the way they boasted. Pridefully, they’d parade the streets proclaiming their superiority over one another. However, never would they put it to the test.
One day, a swordsman from the north visited the town. He wore the trappings of an incredible master. He had elegance, poise, and most importantly, a beautiful blade worth more than gold. Despite his appearance, he did not brag or scream. He bowed to El and Da and asked their permission to enter.
This act confused them, why would a master humiliate himself.  If anything he should challenge them, prove his prowess with a blade. Force them to submit not put himself in the same position.
Unable to understand his ways, the men began to convince themselves that he was fake. In the dark of name, they plotted to humiliate the man. Challenge him to a public duel that would expose him to fraud.
The next day they carried out their plan, in a frenzy, Da and El scolded and mocked the man hoping to bring him to violence.
They drew their swords and proclaimed him a coward and a fake. They positioned him so he would need to defend his honor.

The crowd was watching with bated breaths what would happen next. Would the swordsman cower seeing Da and El in all their strength, looking at him as if they were about to slay him.  Did he have to face the challenge that was put forth. He knew men like them who were boasters and when confronted would not be able to put up a great fight and had come across many such men in his travels. He had mastered the art of swordsmanship for many years, living with a Master in a Monastic School, high up in the mountains, where they were taught the art of sword fighting with mindful meditation, to be vigilant, calm, patient, understand the opponent’s thought when fighting. How one has to fight not with anger or hatred in his mind as that will lead you to your downfall but with humbleness and courage.

He knew he could defeat both Da and El easily but he did not want to do that and show his proudness unnecessarily.  They did not know that he had mastered this art of swordsmanship. They were confused how could a master want to enter the arena for a combat when he needs to teach students how to wield a sword during a fight or a battle. They thought him to be a fraud and expose him saying that this man was not a Master but an Imposter.

The Master knew that they were good men but since they had challenged him he thought of simply playing a little game with them. He went forward and picking up his sword with pure awareness in his inner being, the Master fought both of them in a style that all were left in awe. His strokes were so meticulous they were no match for him and were totally defeated, lying on the ground with their swords thrown at a distance. They did not know what had happened to them. He was so swift and deft with his sword.

The multitude were aghast seeing this fight. They had never seen such a combat in their life and there was thunderous applause. Afterwards, the Master picked both of them and they all walked away from the arena.  Both the men were ashamed of themselves and fell at the feet of the Master and said, “We are extremely sorry for thinking you to be a fraud when you are a True Master. You could have killed us but you spared our lives and have shown us how to be noble and compassionate to one and all. We will never underestimate any Master who comes in our midst”. Then the Master said, “You both are brave and courageous men. Learn the proper art of combat and do not show pride and hurt people by what you have been taught. Be humble and richer in spirit and lead a simple life of purity and spiritual cleanliness.” So saying he left from this Indian village.

Our town’s water tower was no easy project. When I grew up, we borrowed from the neighboring town’s tower. People thought that was well enough. I never did, I wished for a way for our community to supply themselves. The first time we brought a complaint was when I was only seventeen. The city council laughed at the mere proposition of a child’s suggestion.
My response was to come again the very next week. I showed up for every meeting that took place. Being turned down so many times became second nature. For ten years, I’d show up regardless of any outside force that apposed me.
I became a woman. I studied and grew. I even got a degree in law, I opened my own firm. As I grew, so did the community around me. It became harder and harder to scoff. I was no longer a child but a lawyer and taxpayer. It had become impossible to ignore me.
I can’t help but look at this tower and appreciate the true potential of humankind. The ability to with hard work and tenacity form a better life. Perhaps to you, this tower is tiny and insignificant. To me, it’s the most incredible tower I’ve ever seen.

Spirit Visa Episode 1

Once upon a time,

in the land beyond the veil, there lived a young witch named Uma. Despite being only eleven years old, and entirely on her own, she lived an incredible life. She had a comfy hut made from jungle wood and straw, as well as her very own sustainable garden. She had a cobblestone well that went down for several yards. Best of all, she had her wand an incredibly rare item that held unlimited magical potential. The only thing she was yearning for was a friend since she’d been stranded all she’s been able to see is her reflection. She replaced silence by talking out loud to herself, but that hardly helped. The more time that passed, the more depressed she seemed to get. Eventually, She was forced to act. So she packed a bag and started walking from her hut. She walked for days through thick jungles and expansive deserts. Often she nearly passed out from heat exhaustion. Despite that, she kept walking. With little care for her limitations. Whenever she fell, she forced herself to get up. She was entirely determined to find someone. Stopping wasn’t an option. As she traveled, she looked intently hoping to see any living thing even in the distance. Every cave she came by she looked through thoroughly. Every river she swam through with meticulous scrutiny. Still, after weeks of searching, she hadn’t found anything. After days of walking through arid dessert, she was ready to quit. That’s when she saw a small brown speck in the distance. She ran as she had never run before sprinting towards the distant speck. It was a coyote. It was being pecked at by vultures. In a rush, she drew her wand from her bag. Leave him alone! She screamed with all her courage. Summoning an incredible fireball that teathed with energy like a small star. The vultures cawed in disapproval, growing in size until each was the size of a full-grown dragon. She attempted to fire her spell, shooting it at the vulture in the center. The vultures, just flapped in unison blowing it into discarded sparks. The force from the wings was enough to knock her to the ground. Causing her to bash her head aggressively into the sandy floor. The coyote ran to her side, licking her throbbing head.  In moments it felt completely healthy. It had healed her. Thank you, she said softly. She stood and faced the massive birds. Can you help me? She asked. It nodded and put his paw on her leg. The coyote lent her incredible magical energy. The rush felt like being struck by lightning. She used everything they had and created a massive fireball, its power was so intense, that her skin was blistering from the heat. She endured, and with everything she had, she threw it at the vultures creating a massive explosion. The huge vultures hissed in pain, their bodies reduced to ash, in an incredible wave of incineration. Their spirits survived, in the form of three little balls of light. They zipped away further into the spirit planes frantically finding shelter. The coyote nuzzled her leg happily, grateful for his rescue. Uma had made a friend, but she had also made enemies. It seemed that her journey was only beginning. Still, she felt hopeful she had a friend now, what in the world could stop her?

Spirit Visa Episode 2

Art by @fairykeiboy

Despite being entirely far from home, Uma felt too in awe of the beauty around her to be frightened. Miles of deserts had, in an instant, turned into a luminescent jungle. The massive glowing plants had been hiding, in fear of the vultures hurting them. Now that the vultures were gone the entire landscape was unrecognizable.

Flowers that glowed like street lamps in hundreds of colors littered the landscape. Each at least three times the size of Uma. Giant trees with pink cotton tops were also incredibly popular. Houses and streams full of nymphs seemed to be at every turn. Friendship was a goal of the past. If she could live here, she’d have a community.

Her daydreaming was interrupted by a rather small creature clearing its throat.

“Excuse me, miss, may I have a word?” Below her, standing as upright as she would, there was a fox man. He was well dressed and oddly humanoid. He wore a three-piece suit, all black except for an orange tie. Uma had to admit he was incredibly sharp for a fox.

“You can have all the words you want!” She exclaimed excitedly

“Oh dear, if you’d calm down, I must insist you acquire a visa before entering the city.” He muttered impishly

The Fox spoke in an accent Uma didn’t recognize. It made him sound incredibly wealthy and educated.

“Are you serious? I just saved your city.” She cried in defense

“Mam, again, please calm yourself. I appreciate your part in driving back the vultures.” He made a gesture of gratitude with his hand. “However, rules must be followed,” he muttered hopelessly.

“Ugh fine,” She surrendered “Where do I go to get a visa?”

The fox said nothing only made the hand gesture again. He then pointed her in the direction of who he called the queen. He told her that she could grant her the Visa and wished her luck.

Although the weasely fox was incredibly odd, Uma found something charming about it. He was so firm in his love for the rules. It was almost admirable if that made sense.

She ran up the hill covered in houses and into the highest resting Forrest. It was small but surfaced in far more dazzling plant life. It was the crown of the whole tiny village. Inside was a small clear pond.

Laying in the pond was a beautiful mermaid with dark skin and colorful hair. She was so beautiful, Uma felt slightly nervous in her presence. When she spoke, it was soft but firm. Her speech was like a kung-fu master’s punch.

“Why have you visited me, child?” She asked beautifully.

Uma froze in fear contemplating things to say.  She felt trapped under a spell of pressure, She needed to break out fast. Uma didn’t know much about queens, but she knew they weren’t known to be patient.

Kraken Episode 1

“Deep beneath the sea lives a creature long forgotten. It’s size once told in legends to be larger than even a sailing vessel. Now it’s all but forgotten. As our boats became more resolute, the Kraken retreated further into the sea. Never to be seen, until one day when it returns.”  Grampa would talk dramatically like that for hours on our family fishing trips.

Every epic anecdote would fill their boat with several wide-eyed, slack-jawed children, on the verge of tears. It was a sure sign of an incredible tale.

Despite his incredible skill, Maddie would never get scared. She just listened intently, with a massive smile in awe of the incredible creatures. She loved grampa’s monsters evenColossus, although she knew he stole it from a grown-up movie. Even Maddie’s parents, aunts, and uncles would have keen ears on grampas words. The whole family resembled a crowd watching a car wreck, like it or not, none of them could look away. That’s why Maddie noticed the smell before she saw anything. It reeked like sewage she was forced to cover her nose with her sweater to stop herself from vomiting. Her aunt Penny didn’t have the instinct and was hurling over the side already. It was pretty funny until Maddie heard her shriek with enough force to shatter a window. That sounded serious. As soon as the scream had come, the boat engine thudded to a stop, that seemed even worse. With her mouth still covered, and her breathing stressed, she forced herself to look. It was huge and as dark as obsidian with coral all along its gleaming surface.”That’s a dead whale” She mumbled through her shirt. “The guck in the water must’ve broken the engine.”Her aunt Penny nearly fainted at the news. Her grampas skin turned pearly white. His face seemed to fill with sand. In a way that Maddie imagined was like rapid aging.”Not again… not again… not again” He cried fearfully.

“Grampa what’s wrong?” Maddie asked genuinely

“The Kraken, this is how it starts,” He wailed “This is what they hunger for.” He looked completely deranged. Maybe, that’s why Maddie believed him. The fear in his eyes seemed so real. The rest of the family didn’t agree. They were dreadfully serious giving cross stares from across the ship. Each pair of eyes was as sharp as a razor. “Storytime is over.” Aunt Penny scolded. “We could die out here.”Maddie quickly took her grampa and helped him downstairs into the boat, electing not to give every member of her family a piece of her mind instead. How could they scold an old possibly insane man just for scaring them? It felt so treacherous this dead whale was bringing out the worse in them. Worse than that, not one member of her family could get them out of this mess. Maddie didn’t know how to fix an engine, that was for sure. She just tucked her grandfather in the bedroom downstairs and turned off the lights, hoping it would stop him from freaking out. She went to all the emergency supplies and grabbed the satellite phone. She then dialed the number for the coast guard in a panic. Hoping they’d give them a ride home. Before she could even finish dialing, her ship began turning aggressively. Like she was inside of a high powered washing machine. In moments she was flailing within the living quarters, she was a doll in a shaking dollhouse. She had no control of the chaos around her. In moments, her head cracked against a hard surface, and her vision became dark. The last thing she thought before she passed out, where’s grampa.

Kraken Episode 2

If she stayed here much longer, she was going to freeze to death!Β

-Narrator

“Hello?” She croaked weakly.

-Maddie
Reading Music

When Maddie awoke, she couldn’t see, everything around her was entirely dark. It was cold every goose bump on her body was up, and her breath felt like wispy smoke. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t stop the consistent chattering of her teeth. If she stayed here much longer, she was going to freeze to death!Β Β Β Β Worse than that, she had no idea what happened to her family. No other sounds were coming from the darkness. “Hello?” She croaked weakly. The only thing she heard was the vacant boom of her echo. That was good; It meant she was likely in a cave. Not that she favored caves in any way, but knowing her location helped remarkably. Maddie had a lighter in her pocket she was glad she waited to pull it out. Caves can fill with flammable vapor she had read loads about the hazards of underground caves. She also knew the air could become toxic deep below the ground. To the left, the path led down steeply into an underground lake. The Water basin had a high ceiling and long stalactites. It was better lit in this room with light coming in from below the water. It was a sickly green hue that Maddie didn’t care for, but it was light. Creepy or otherwise the important thing is she could see. She decided to explore the cavern and look at the mine shaft later. After all, she couldn’t leave without her family, and the mine likely had an elevator. She slid down the steep path and entered the opening with a THUD! On the far side of the cavern, she saw a pile of ships. Each was damaged in various ways some in one or two pieces, others in many more. They were stacked tightly in a trash heap the size of Kilimanjaro. With hundreds of ships collectively, it would be impossible to see if hers was among them. It was insane to try, but Maddie knew. Her grampa’s boat could be there. It was way too far to see from here. No paths stretched over, and she had no way of finding a ship. The only way she can see her family again is if she swims. At least, nobody can call her a coward.
